Unhappy Desktop takes forever to load

Yesterday my computer was working just fine but this morning when I booted up my computer my dad unplugged my power supply outlet. And ever since then my desktop is just taking ages to load. But after it loads everything runs as smoothly as always. It's just that sometimes when I go into disk defrag the whole thing lags. Like it doesn't want to read the drives. I doubt the power loss killed the consistency of the drive because I tried sending a large file from my os drive to another drive and sent the file between two different drives and they sent it at the same rate. I've scanned for viruses and spyware and deleted them all. Tried chkdsk and repair. Tried bombing useless things with Hijackthis. And I can't system restore since I turned off system restore monitoring. Also when I start in safe mode it runs fine without the slow startup. Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix this little problem?

Whenever your comp has been shutdown improperly, you should run a disk check - there may be errors on it which the OS can fix.
My Computer - Right-click on 'C' drive - select 'Proerties'. Click the 'Tools' tab. Where it says 'Error-checking, click 'Check Now'.
Tick BOTH little boxes, then click 'Start', then re-start your system and the error-check/fix will run before Windows loads.

You say that your pc starts normally in safe mode so it must be a problem with something in the startup list. Go to msconfig start/run TYPE: msconfig then look at the startup list to see if there are any suspect programs loading. If you do not see anything obvious you need to deselect everything, apply. Reboot your pc. Hopefully your system started normally. Now you need to go back to msconfig and re-select one item at a time until you find the offending item (reboot between each adjustment).
Keep us up to date on your progress.

I've done the error checking which is basically chkdsk. And I check my startups regularly. Those aren't the solutions
