Setting up different users - pointless?

I've added an extra user on my PC for my girlfriend. Thing is when she installs something on her user it appears on mine! I've tried installing through documents and settings then owner and it stilll appears on hers. It's really annoying. How do work this out? I want it to be like we're switching between two different PCs

I don't think you can in that situation. If you really feel the need to be completely isolated then perhaps you should consider "dual booting" your machine. Basically it would involve having your operating system installed on two separte partitions. Then when you boot the computer you simply choose which operating system to start. All files will be kept totally separate and independent of each other but with the ability to access one operating system from the other.

I've found multiple accounts more trouble than they are worth. I just use the one administrator account with no login. My wife has her favourite browser and I have mine. It is very easy to setup private/separate folders for documents etc. Foxmail and others, I am sure, offer secure and separate users within the program for email handling. There is no problem keeping data private via encryption or password protection. I, simply, do not have any problems with this setup.
