gpedit.msc

i was looking to set up a computer as it would be set up in an internet cafe or library where the access for the user is restriced so much that all they can do is run programs, browse the internet, and save files to their my documents foler. i want to restrict installation, regedit, gpedit.msc and all of the other important windows utilities that regular users can interfere with in a perfectly good working machines. i have played around with gpedit.msc, but i don't know which settings woul dbe the necessary ones to adjust. ican only speculate. any ideas? thanks

As far as i am aware, you can just set up a guest account and it will have no access/rights to download or change any settings.

create a limited user account then read this page http://support.microsoft.com/default...308421&sd=tech
with the feature you can configure permission for each user account of applications, files or folders

Gordo, welcome to this forum with your first post.

limited user account wouldn't cut it...you got to take away lots of sutff for a Cafe computer cuz people will try everything to break into it.

First make sure you don't ever have a floppy and CD drive in the computer then you could use a software called Access Administrator to limit what people can launch from that system.

Here is the link to it.
