virus or am I stupid?

Well, I have been trying to edit folder names in My Pictures for the past few days - to no avail. I then realized the folder, My Pictures, was read only????? Then I discovered today, that the folder moved - is now in c:/Documents and settings/owner/RECENT/....

I cannot see the Recent folder when I go into Explore, and Yes, I have double checked my settings to make sure that all files are unhidden. It turns out that now MY MUSIC is now in the same place. How do I know where these folders are since they are hidden? If I click on start and then right click on either of these two folders, and then click on properties, it shows the file location. I also did a Norton scan on the folder to check for obvious signs of viruses. I have spybot and I have spyware blaster - both are current and up to date. If I do a search, for either folder, neither come up?

Am I missing something? Any advice to someone who has totally exhausted her knowlege base?

by default Windows operating system hide bunch of file in order to protect them from accidental deletion. In order for you to view all the file in your computer (protected or not ), do this:

open any folder, go to Tools / Folder Option / click on View TAB / and click on "Show Hidden Files and Folders"

If you keep up -to-date with your Anti Virus and Spyware software then you should be JUST FINE.
