Constant crash while using Direct Draw (DX9.c)

Hello all!

For the last 1,5 weeks I have been playing the beta version of Worlds of Warcraft, a game by Blizzard (this question is not WoW related in any way)... Ive been playing this game for 1,5 weeks without any trouble, but today there was an official patch/update...

I downloaded it, and started Wow... But the program said :

"Hardware changed. Reload Default Settings? (yes/no)...

I chose both yes and no, but got the same results : Warcraft task starts, screen goes black and ZAP my system instantly reboots! Ive tried the WoW forum, but I somehow began te suspect the problem was not WoW related... I tried installing new video drivers, and reinstalled the latest Direct X version... but the problem didnt go away... In fact... it happened with ANY game using direct X... At the forum I was asked to send in my DxDiag, so I did just that... Because they also asked me to check my Direct X I went on and opened Dxdiag and selected "Test DirectDraw" under video...

First two tests go alright... Then comes the Fullscreen mode test of Direct Draw (the third test) and ZAP, another immediate reboot!!!

I tried some other games using Direct X and they all have the same problem...

So... some questions...

1) Could the patch have changed these settings? Before I was not encountering ANY problems with these games...?

2) How do I fix it??

Hope you can help me with this one!

Thanks so much!!

Mike

Is there any doubt in your mind that it isn't the patch ? That would be the common sense to me. If you are running Windows XP then you could use the Restore program to move to earlier date.
