Question Control Panel View

Hi everyone,

On my laptop, in the control panel, I switched from the regular XP view to 'classic view' and now the option to swith back to regular XP view is gone. Anyone know how to correct this? Thanks so much.

Re: Control Panel View

Click on the double arrows in the button to the right of where it says "Control Panel", that will reveal the drop-down menu.

The only two Control Panel views available are "Category View" or "Classic View". When you using one, the other name will appear at the top left side of the window. To change, put your mouse pointer on the Name and left click.

Thank you, but I already know this. What I'm saying is that the option to change it back to category view just isn't there now.

I have no double arrows to the right of where it says Control Panel. I don't know why.

Are you in the Control Panel itself? When you click on the Start button, you should see Control Panel (no button w/arrows). Click on that and go into the Control Panel itself. Then on the left side of the screen, there should be another Control Panel icon, this time with the button/arrows just to the right of it. The button w/arrows will hide/reveal the "Switch to Classic/Category View" menu. Hope that helps. If you find that and the "Change to view" option is still not there, I don't know what to tell you.

Yeah, I found that, but the option just isn't there. It's vanished. I go to Start, click Control Panel, then it pops up in classic view, no options at all to the left or anywhere.

Ok, I think I know what happened. Try this - in Control Panel, click on Tools, Folder Options, General tab, and in the Tasks section you'll see two choices, "Show common tasks in folders" and "Use Windows classic folders". Select the first one, click ok, then the other method I described should appear on the left.
