Lost Product Key

I was given a hard drive I can use to resurrect an old IBM notebook that had Win 95. I have the original OEM CD, but after 8 years, have lost the Product Key to load the software.

Can I find this key by searching through the Win 95 CD or is there a work-around other than calling MS on the phone??? Thanks

Far as my knowdlege. To LEGALLY obtain a key you will need to contact Microsoft, to issue a new one, it may take serveal weeks due to them thinking you may be a Pirate or something.

I wish you luck...

Thanks, I understand the piracy issue, but hell, you can't even buy 95 anymore unless it's on ebay for $10.

They won't get a dime...

I'll have to pay some dude in Chicago $10 plus another 5 for shipping for something I've already paid for.

If you lose the key to your car, do you go back to the dealer to buy a new car???

This will change, no doubt in my mind. Does MS deserve the $$ for their products? Of course they do. But it seems like the law-abiding citizen is always punished for the sins of the criminals.

If I were in Russia or India, I could have a code with 1 phone call...

I was just told by another guy in another forum that MS does not support 95 anymore and will not give out a key. Therefore who gives a crap if it's legal or not (which it is, really). ???

No, MS does not support 95 anymore. All companies have complety called it something I forget the word meaning they don't give a shi** about it. But I not sure about they giving out a key.
