Uninstall it.
I say 'why fix something if it's not broken', if everything was fine with service pack 1, I would keep it that way. I would get all of the updates microsoft are throwing out apart from SP2.

But, you do need to protect your machine with a firewall, antivirus and spyware removal tools.

See the thread below for info on this:

Neil, 'some' of those updates are not marked as SP2. I was caught that way with patches. Berlac advisor app told me they were SP2 updates. Not good!

If you install security updates with (sp2) after them, they still work with SP1 don't they? Because I've been updating an older machine with the new updates but with sp1 and it was fine, but as soon as I installed the actual service pack it started running like a dog.

Correct Neil But yesterday I did one critical update of IE, and thought it was a wise decision.......LOL** When I noticed the slowdown, I just used the sfc /scannow cmd.........it wouldn't recognize my legal XP disk. (

I uninstalled the patch and all is well.

I'm now having a bit of a fight with M$oft! What fun......they don't appear to understand slipstreaming Had to send them a link!

LOL**

LOL, thanks for the info.
I'll have to watch what updates I get from now on.

Sounds like your printer drivers need updating. Before uninstalling SP2, Make sure the Printers Driver is up to date. I'm assuming that you know how to update the driver, so I won't tell you. Believe it not, Sp2 was supposed to make your pc more stable. Before I installed sp2, my pc would at random times display an error message at pc boot-up. Now it doesn't do that, and my pc is running more smoothly than ever. Before one installs sp2, he/she should get windows FULLY updated prior.
And this one might be hard to believe, but microsoft actually cares for there consumers now. I got the news about sp2 just before it came out from pc world magazines web site. I was actually shocked about that particular piece of news.
