icons spread out

all of my icons on my desktop and in folders are all spread out when i snap to grid. i try to move them to where they were and they stay the same....wat to do?

Sounds like they are locked. Right click on an empty space on your desktop and select "arrange icons by".

Have you tried right clicking the desktop and in the "Arrange by" menu selecting "Auto Arrange"? That should put them over on the left-hand side of the desktop. Then go back and click on Auto Arrange again to uncheck it and unlock the icons if you want to move them around some more.
