Networking

I've got 4 comps that I want to network to share files/printers. 2 are Win98 and 2 are XP.

I got the whole thing set up and sharing an internet connection but only the 2 XP comps can share files/printers with each other and the 2 98 comps can share files/printers with each other.

Any Ideas?

Have you set up the "Drives" to be shared...example "C" drive?
I have also found that sometimes even if you select "share this folder", you sometimes need to create a "new share name" and that often will remedie the non sharing problem.

When you ran the XP network wizard, did you make the "network setup" disk and run it on the Win98 computers? If the XP systems are using NTFS, you will need to do that.

This is a tip in XP. I find out that if you keep your files in the document folder created by default in XP, you won't be able to share those files even if you click share this folder and apply that atribute to every single file in tha tfolder.
I know this because one day I tries to play music on my desktop and it says i didnt have sufficient privilege to access the file.
I went to the desktop and checked everything that needed 4 the sharing process to work. I checked the laptop, it still didnt work.
So I moved the music folder to another drive and it went well.
So my advice is even if u got ur networking going on, try not to share drive C. There are some files in drive C ucannot even share even if sharing privileges is enforced.
