Webcam all of a Sudden Freezing During Conferences in XP

Please bear with me for this requires much explanation. I've been using XP for about 2 months now and my old Intel webcam worked great during video conferencing. Recently I installed updated software for my HP scanner and then installed the Zoombrowser for my Canon digicam. Then I noticed during every video conference my webcam would freeze after about 5 seconds and then a few seconds later Net Meeting would shut down. I installed a different video conferencing program to see if it was a Net Meeting problem. My webcam in this other program froze also. I then tested it in my Win 98 partition and the webcam continues to work perfectly without freezing. I don't have this other updated scanner or Canon software installed in Win 98. Therefore I think it's an XP issue or I thought there may be a driver conflict the the new updated scanner software or the Canon software, so I deleted/uninstalled both softwares. I unplugged scanner and rebooted. I then let XP install it's drivers for the scanner and I set up digicam to use the Scanner/Camera Wizard for uploading. I tested cam once again and it immediately froze up. I then assumed that maybe files or registry got corrupted. I then reformatted my XP partition and reinstalled XP. I did NOT install the updated scanner software or the Canon software.Even after a fresh clean install of XP my webcam is still freezing and shutting down Net Meeting. I am at a loss as how to fix this problem. I want XP to be my main operating system and not have to boot up into Win 98 to video conference with my family and friends. I wondered if there was an issue with the BIOS now.
Thanks
Laurie

try installing windows 2000 pro instead, cause everyone I know who had win.xp hated it . Since they changed over to win.2000 pro , no more conflicts.
