agreed, its not the player thats the problem its the fact it refuses to install which hints at a greater system problem.

fixing the problem will make things better, then install what player you like

Do you have enough space left on the drive you are trying to install SP2? SP2 needs lots of room for not only the final installation, but the installation it self.

I "tested' SP2 on one of my machines a few month's back to see whether or not I would like it and to see for myself what bugs it may contain. The only problem I encountered was that I didn't have the required space and thus it would go about 75% complete then "halt". I solved the problem by freeing up a lot more space. I believe I had to free up close to 1.3 gbs or so (final install doesn't require that much, but needs temporary space).

I have 40 free gigs on primary hard drive and 55 on my slave,l so there's no shortage of space. I've try to download ir from www.microsoft.com, www.download.com, straight off my media player 10 beta and thru a different computer. Definitly something wrong. I appreciate everybody's onput on this matter.Thanks

usually if you can not install wmp 10 the fix on the link below fixes you up.
