XP Search function slow

hi and thanks for everything in advance.
I think my XP search function is slow and sluggish. it seems that my old Win 2000 search function was much faster.
Any ideas how to beef this up?
I have 2 hard drives, both 7200 about a year or so old, one is 111 GB and the other is 76 GB.
My PC is 2.8 GB etc.

click on 'my computer', right click on your hard drive and select the box that says ' allow indexing service to run on this drive for fast file searching'. Do that on both drives.
