passord location

Can some one please tell me what files passwords are stored in?
ie- like when windows asks if you want it to rememeber a password. wheere are thy located.

Go to start > run, and type 'control userpasswords2' without the quotes.

Then click on the advanced tab and then click on manage passwords.
