Cool Have 2 win xp folders both named the same.

Hi:

I am new here but have been on many different forums. I though that this one would be a better one for me.

Just recently, I installed a new mobo, and HD. I have the AMD Athlon 2600 + My mobo is ASUS A7N8X-X with 400 Mhz FSB.

When I tried to install my original win xp, I ran into a problem not being able to install. Finally, I sought help through a computer store and they even had a problem installing my win xp. They installed theirs and was working fine. That is until I brought my computer home. Then, it wouldn't even boot up. I thought what do I have to lose and I can install my original win xp on the same partition using old and new as folders. What happened was that I accidentally named the 2nd win xp (my xp) the same as the win xp (installed from their disk and when I tried to do a repair, I was warned that I have 2 folders named win xp. It is causing me some conflicts and I was wondering how I can uninstall one of the folders so I will have one clean install? There is no uinstall for win xp. I would expect that I have to do it in the command console but I don't know how to do it. Anybody have suggestions? I will certainly appreciate it. Thank you very much.

Regards,

if it will boot up, go to the drive you have xp installed on, right click and delete one. it will only let you delete the one that you are not booted into. now got to start>run>type
msconfig click boot ini, and then click "check all boot paths" if it finds a error, let it correct it, if it dont....cool beans, you're good to go. if you have programs installed on the copy you deleted reinstall them, they should just replace the files in the programs files folder, or where ever they went by default and will now be registered to the copy you are booted from.
