XP refuses to Boot!

I have upgraded from ME to XP professional. It all seemed to go fine, but now when I try to start up I get the message:
Drive Not Ready
Insert Boot diskette in A:
Press any key when Ready

The problem seems to originate with the DVD drive and the CD Read/Writer. Most grateful for any ideas.

You might have to do an fdisk on it, but might be better off trying to reinstall windows!!

Check the boot sequence in the bios. Make sure the hard drive is in the list.
