XP Boot and Internet problems HELP!
thanks in advance for your help and please respond ASAP! I recently reformatted to a new hard drive about a week ago, and since then I've been getting slammed with spyware and viruses, despite my many firewalls and virus scanners (like Norton Systemworks, etc). I restarted my computer, and since then I couldn't access the internet for some reason. I was getting pretty annoyed because I tried everything: Static IPs, ipconfig release/renew, new drivers, and even new cables. My other computer was working fine, it was only on that one. My Norton was affected with some virus so it wasn't working so I got rid of that. When I just got fed up with all of this and I shut it down. Later, when I came back, I noticed that I couldn't log on anymore. Before XP loaded all the way, all I get was a mouse and a black screen, and that's it. It won't boot any farther from there. I tried a Windows Repair install, but I didn't have a selection for it. Is there something I can do in the recovery console that will allow me to restore to a previous date? I REALLY need help with this, because I have too many things going on right now to have a disfunctional computer.
