Windows XP SP2: Settings not saved after restart

Hi,

Nice site you have here, I hope it benefits me as well as it impressed me.

Here's my ongoing problem.

Basically whenever I restart or shutdown my computer using the start menu, and of course the power switch, that I don't use. When the computer starts up again my refresh rate goes back to 60 Hz, my iTunes login reverts to my old email address (login name) and my wireless network needs to be redetected again.

It is literally driving me nuts!!

PC Spec:

Windows XP Pro SP2
AMD 2200 XP
364 MB DDR RAM
MSI K7N2 Delta 2 Motherboard - Using onboard sound
2 x 40GB Seagate Hard Drives

Any ideas would go very far as I'm tearing my hair out. My Windows is fully patched and updated.

Would you have guessed it, the day I actually ask for help I fix it myself!

It was my bios settings, for some reason my "Default graphics socket" was set to PCI!

Changed it to AGP and my problems were solved. Well my wireless doesn't seem to work on startup but I think that's a problem on that end.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Viktoria,

Thank you. I've noticed other people having troubles with SP2 as well, luckily I've had no problems with it.
