Sound problems

I dont know whats happening. Suddenly my speakers have been giving out a flat rispy noise instead of a clear crisp sound. I am not sure what the problem is, It just suddely happened. The sound works just not as clear. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.00ghz
512Mb Ram
320Gb Hdd
Ge Force FX 5200 256mb
(I think my sound device is) Realtek AC97 Audio

Although the sound device should not matter, i know I get a good clear sound and suddenly it has become risp and unclear.

The problem might be with your sound card drivers. There are some bugs in the AC'97 sound card drivers. You should download and install the Realtek Sound Card AC97 a3.53 drivers. Give it a try. You can get the drivers from:

A lot of people have problems with this type of sound card (including me). I installed the driver I recommeded above and the problem dissapeared. Hope it works for you too.
