MSN Messenger problem. Software conflict?

Hi,

My problem began when I tried to use my web camera with msn messenger (version 6.2). I am running windows xp pro, pentium 4, 2.4 Ghz, ram 256, adsl connection. I have bluetooth, usb printer and camera installed, cd- rw, windows firewall and norton internet security active.

The situation is as follows: the other user in messenger has the same settings, ie. windows xp, firewall and norton, but we both have given access permission to the msn software. He can see my image with no problem for him or me. But when he tries to connect his camera, I get only a black screen for a few seconds and then the web connection stops. But thats not the main issue, because the last two times it caused serious internet problems for me: I cant open certain sites, my pc freezes/ crashes, or the system cannot found my modem device, although its connected.

My camera is a A&W Cammagic 1.3 and his a Trust USB portable webcam spacecam 150.

We havent got any problems like that with the yahoo messenger.

Thank you.

First, welcome to the S&H Discussion Forums.

Is the camera and modem drivers up to date?
If you did download updated driver's, did you scan for viruses?
