Incorrect parameter error when logging in error

Performed a windows update and reset as normal- XP
Now asks me to login which it didnt before and when try to do so and type correct password it says parameters are incorrect.Says the same when i try to login in safe mode as admin-can anyone help please?

just guessing at this point.
i had assumed the problem was either a windows update or a virus, because i had two different machines with completely different setups. now with your post and some sleep i was able to get, what was the update? was it netframework or SP2? and what brand of pc do you have. the ones i worked on were a dell and a HP that had the problem. being you can not log into the main admin account because you dont know the password, the same now applys for your account because it probably used the admin password set by the mfg on your account. call the people who made your pc and see if they will give you the admin password so you can start in safe mode and repair your user account.

I have had similar problems. Press F8 when you power computer on and select "Last known good configuration". Should log you in. Manually install SP2.
