user account problems when loggin on/off

hey all... i got a problem that is really annoying... hope to explain it best i can... i am running winxp pro and have 2 user accounts... one is mine, other is bro's, both sys admins... my account has no problem but my brother's does when loggin on/off... what happens is when he logs on to his account and uses it for a while or lets it sit dormant, logging off or switchin user, the problem arises... sometimes it does what it is supposed to do, other times, nothing happens... the window appears for switch user/log off but after clicking selection, window disappears and nothing happens... no loggin of, no switchin user... you cant even select restart/turn off pc cause nothin happens either...i have to manually restart pc... how do i fix this problem? its annoying and i wanna fix it asap... thanks

if it just happens on his account, copy all his stuff to your account, like pictures, music, export the emails(if they use outlook express, outlook, or other client that downloads the mail). delete the account and create him a brand new one. either his is corrupt, he messed with the settings and no one remebers which ones, or even why.......
other things to think about.
spyware scan

on-line virus scan

and if those are clean and it happens again, try pressing ctrl>alt>delete at the same time to bring up the task manager and see whats running.

if the scan come out clean, what does he do, or use that you dont? i would assume you have checked his startup folder on HIS user account? click all programs then hover on startup and see what might be in there because if it was in msconfig...it would effect you too.
