Unhappy Internet Wont Work!!!

umm my internet wont work and its really pissing me off. i have roadrunner in tampa bay florida. on my router it has all the lights on. the power light, the internet light, the traffic light. every light on my router is ON. i have one of them new netgear modems. its actually a "wireless cable modem gateway". and even wen i try to log into the modem through http://192.168.0.10 it wont login. and it may be 192.168.0.1, and i tried that and it wont work either. when i open internet exploder, i mean internet explorer it just says cannot find page. i go to any page, even google.com and it cannot find the page. im guessing this is a security issue because i know my modem is getting a connection. anything i can do to windows to fix this? i have windows xp professional, service pack 2. i have been using service pack 2 for months now, and i know thats not the problem. but maybe i need to uninstall service pack 2. but i highly doubt it. ANY ANY ANY HELP would be VERRRRRY MUCH appreciated!!!! thanks
in advanced for anythin

Hiya blakeman212

Has this problem only just started?.....If so try a system restore.
Have you tried resetting your modem and router? (this was my problem)
Have you done full Virus,Trojan,Adware and spyware scans?

Firstly, its 192.168.1.1 for the router/modem. I have a problem similar to this, to solve it, I unplug everything and let the modem cycle, then plug in the router and try (Resetting). Sometimes it takes a few tries, along with restarting. Also, what firewall programs do you have, and windows firewall?

EDIT: seems you already got a reply, hope works out.

VIDSTER: i have done full virus and spyware scans with the following programs: spysweeper, spybot, ad-aware, and AVG Antivirus. i have reset my modem and restarted my computer and repaired and disabled/enabled the connection several times. and this problem has just recently started. it started on christmas. im guessing it MIGHT be a virus because my connection was already a bit quirky before hand.

YO~YO~DELTAk i just trieed with that IP addres you gave me, and i cant even accsss my modem either. i've tried other ending of the modem address. ive tried .0.10, .1.10, .1.1, .1.0, 10.1, .10.0, ive tried em all, and it cant even access my modem. i have unplgued EVERYTHNIG. i unpluged the ethernet chord, i unplugged the cable connection, i unpluged the power chord. i even reset my modem while its on. i eve deleted the connection, reinstalled the drivers for my ethernet card too. and i have no firewall, and the windows firewall is disabled.

If you cannot access your router from your browser(192.168.1.1) then there is something wrong with the router.
Hook your computer directly to the modem bypassing the router. It wouldnt hurt to unplug the power from the modem for a bit to reset things. Reboot if necessary. You should have internet. If not, you may need to contact your isp. Your modem may need to be reset at their end. Are you on cable or adsl? Adsl requires a little different approach. If you are on adsl you will need to access your isp user account and enter the mac address of your router or computer. They can do that for you.

It is a router with a seperate modem attatched via ethernet, or is it a built in modem gateway.

Check the tcp/ip settings in the network connections, via the control panel, under properties. it should list your IP address for the machine and the gateway ip also, it should be the ip in the gateway box that is used. and normally the login is admin the password is password by default on netgear equiptment

yo can always try a hardware reset, power off , and depress the reset button with a pin, turn on and leave for 10 seconds, i think is the way.

right now i am using the lapop and im on raodrunner with the connection that we thought was "broken". evedently the connection isnt the problem. its my computer thats the prlblem. i also called roadrunner a few minutes ago and we just did everything u said to do. check the tcp ip and all that other bullcrap. so heres my solution, i need to reformat my windows partition of my comp[uter and i bet a million bucks that it will be fixed! hehe. ive also installed norton utilitis and norton antivirus 2004 and instaled avg antivirus and none of this crappy software seemed to work for my problem. oh well. i think im gopnna install panda antivirus with system mechanic 4 profressional and see what happens. be back soon with an update.

oh ya. i need the reformat disks for windows xp professional, they are 6 floppys disks, does anybody know where i can get this? if not its ok, i thionk i might know where to get 'em

thanks for all the help.
