Unhappy Media Player 10 Problems

I'm having some problems with media player that I need help with. I'm not a computer expert but know enough to get around. here are the problems I'm seeing:

Problem - Media Player freezes up when I play fast forward. I used to be able to play fast forward but I think an "Automatiic Update" must have changed something. One day it worked and the next day it didn't.

I unistalled it and downloaded the latest version - no help. I tried uninstalling it a loading in Media Player 9 - it won't let me because it detects a "Newer Version"

I am running .wmv files.

Any help will be greatly appriociated.

Thanks,
Karl

You should get the version you prefer here.

Unhappy Media Player Problems

I'm still having Media Player lock-up everytime I try and play a .wmv file. I've downloaded the newest version - no help. I've tried to install and older version but it won't let me because I have a "Newer Version".

I don't understand why I can not play .wmv files in media player.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Karl

You may need to remove the version you have of Media Player before getting a pevious version, when you remove 10 it should roll back to the original one.

Click start then control panel then add / remove, make sure the show updates box has a tick then remove 10. If you want another version to the one it rolls back to, you get it from the link in the other post.

Media Player Problem

Thanks, I've tried that. Unfortunately when I go to "Unistall" it from the "Control Panel" using the "Add/Remove Programs" it doesn't show up.

This is a funny problem because last week it started to work and I used it for a day. Today I went to use it and it has the same problem I described.

Could it be a virus or spyware doing this or do you think it's a Microsoft problem.

Thanks for your help,
Karl

When you open add / remove look across the top for a box with show updates, put a tick in it and then go for uninstall from the list

Media Player Problem

Thanks, I did select the "Update" box and was able to uninstall the Media PLayer 10. I then installed Media Player 9 and it worked fine. I then went back and installed Media Player 10 and it is working now.

Thanks for your help!!
