Converting from a dynamic disc to a basic disk
Hi,
Can anyone help me – I’ve got a 40 Gig harddrive and 10 gig hardrive on my computer, with the 40 gig being my main drive [C drive] with Windows XP Pro.
The C is a dynamic disc, split into 3 volumes – a 10 gig volume with the OS, a 20 gig volume and another 10 gig volume.
I now want to create a multiple booting environment, with ME installed on a separate partition for some programs that don’t run optimally on XP [even with program compatibility].
So to do this I have to get my main C drive back to a basic disc that supports partitions.
Problem is, Windows wont let me convert my dynamic disc to a basic disc till my C drive is completely clean – and wont let me wipe my C drive while Windows is installed on it!
At the same time, it also wont let me install Windows to anything other than my C drive!
So I’m in a bind – does anyone know if there is any way to repartition my drive and convert it back to a basic disc while I still have Windows installed ? Or any other workaround ?
Any would me much appreciated!
Thanks,
Ryan
