control panel and my computer

I can't get into my control panel or my computer through the start menu. When I click on control panel, the computer hangs and nothing happens. Then, I click control, alt, del, to see what's running and the only thing I do not recognize is DRWATSON.exe and dwwin.exe. When I try to end these processes, I get an error report. It's weird because if I log onto my husband's account, I can get the control panel through his start menu but it will not come up in my account. I'd really appreciate anyone's advice on this. I have done virus scan, spybot, and adaware and haven't found anything that might be causing this. I also did a system restore and it didn't solve the problem. Thanks!

It might also be worth checking that your account has the permissions to use control panel, if you Husbands account was the main account, it could be that your account is set as a Limited Account.

To check this use your Husbands account and goto Control Panel - User Accounts

If your account is set to Limited then try changing to Administrator, but be aware this means you have access to items that could potentially damage the system settings of the computer.

However these kind of accounts are normally only used for children etc.

Good luck.

click the start button...right click on my computer....select properties.......look in the top left hand corner for system restore and click on it....now just check the box that says turn off system restore....

to switch it back on, do the above, but untick the box...easy peasy

Thanks for the response. I finally found the problem. I logged into my husband's account, went into the control panel, then into add and remove programs. He had something in there that was written in Chinese or Japanese, so I removed it, rebooted, and everything is working fine. I don't know what that was but it was weird. Thanks again.
