Hard drive problems

I recently bought a 120gb Seagate hard drive. I got it home pushed it into the rack then unplugged the CD-writer because there were two IDE ports but one of the cables only had one end, the one plugged into the CD-Drive, so I plugged the slave end of the other IDE cable into the new drive and connected the power. Then I started up the computer and it does the memory check and says the frequency speed of the DDR Ram then it doesn't get any further just says
'05/29/2002 - P4X266-8233-6A6LWD4EC00' at the bottom of the screen, also I tried putting it on master and my current hard drive on slave but the same thing happened. Any ideas?
Btw the board can definately take 120gb.

PS: the other HDD I already have is 60gb
TIA

Correct me if I wrong here.......it sounds to me that you now have both hardrives on the same IDE cable...correct? And the other (cable) with only one terminal is connected to the CD rom?

Is the original HD still connected to the same teminal location as before? Is this at the very end of the IDE cable?
Can you set the original HD to (not simply "Master..but) "Master with a slave" and then the new one to "slave".
