Change user access from user account in XP?

Is there any way to change user access in XP from the user account?

My son and I got into a fight and he changed my access on the computer and changed the administrator password.

I now have extremely limited access on every computer in the house and he won't change it.

Thanks in advance.

Actually you can't thats the whole point of the user levels.

Did he have an admin account or did he log in under your one to change the password?

For forgotten passwords you can create a password reset floppy, but I doubt that you made one.

Might i suggest pulling rank as a parent on him instead, we do get a lot of children on these forums and they love posting as adults trying to get access to their parents machines, or someone else etc friend of a friends machine.

Cut his allowence, take away his tv, hell even cut power to the whole house and hide the fuses untill he agrees to change the password back. It's your house your rules,

It's not quite that easy. He lives in the dorms and did it before he left after christmas break. I have tried to pull rank on him. The kid won't listen.

Ohh pesky little thing

try this, If you set up the machine a certain way there will be a default Admin login and seperate account for each person. You might want to try logging in as the default admin.

I say this because the way i set my machine up is to leave the default admin account alone and to make myself another admin account, this way if my machine is comprimised in anyway by a virus or trojan then i have a seperate user with admin rights to fix things.

From the welcome screen hit CTRL-ALT-DEL twice in a row, this will bring up the standard winNT log in box. The default admin log in is "Administrator", the password being what ever you set, there may even be no password for this account so just the user name will do.
