Question Remote Desktop Connection Problem

Hi there,

I am having a problem with the Remote Desktop Connection (which I love and miss!)

Here's the deets:

I can connect to my home computer by logging in as Administrator only! I want to connect using my default profile (who is a member of the Administrator group), and have also added the profile that I wish to use through the advanced tab on the Remote tab on My Computer properties.

So I know it's not a firewall issue, otherwise the Administrator wouldn't be able to log in.

P3 running XP Pro
Remote connections enabled
Remote User added.

I'm not sure if this works or not but give it a try.

Go to "RUN" Type in "gpedit.msc" / go to Computer Configuration / Windows Setting / Security Setting / Local Policy / User Rights Assignment / and in the right panel find "Allow Logon through Terminal Services" double click on is and add the user name that you want to give the access to... give that a try and let us know.

Cheers

Thanks snowmonkey.

I actually figured it out.

The account that I was trying to log into using Remote Desktop was not password protected, I thought it was, so I was using the password that I use for that account. I realized my error and tried to connect by leaving the password field blank. Windows responded with a "Unable to connect due to account restrictions" (how very helpful). I then assigned a password to the account (which I should have done in the first place) and voila, connection is made.

I don't think I ever saw anywhere in Microsoft's docs on Remote Desktop the stipulation that the account you log into must be password protected, but apparently this is the case.

Thanks anyways.

Who remote my PC??

I also have a question on the topic XP Remote Desktop. How to get the information (e.g. IP address) of Remote computer? e.g Computer A remote control Computer B. Then Computer B will be locked as similar as logout. After Computer A disconnect the Remote action, the Computer B have to enter password to login WinXP. But Computer B doesn't not have any information that mention who remote it.

It is a security problem. Anyone know how to get the information?
THX!!
