XP Activation Problem?

hi. im new here but relly need some help.

on my data pc at work which runs win xp pro i think its sp2 cant remeber if not sp1. (sp2 more likely)

this machine dosent get turned off very often. like most servers.etc

my problem is i restarted the pc yesterday and on logon it says this machine needs to be activated.

why? already done. so fair enough i click the button to activate now other wise it just restarts it starts loging in to windows and a pop up comes up saying this machine is already activated click ok. so you click ok and it takes you back to the log on screen.

type in password and hit enter. and it says this machine needs to be activated?

its a continues loop.

see i really dont want to have to format as theres stuff on the pc i really need

have any of you every heard of this do you know how to fix it???

With all do respect, if you have a legit copy of Windows XP then you should call Microsoft, after all then do should have a solution !!!

Using the Windows XP as a server gain is not a good idea, it was not design to run as a server so you will see problem with it in future eve if you manage to get around your current issue.

Last point, just because you operating system goes into loop that odes not mean you will loose everything in the computer.... you can pull the data off that computer via (software tools, there is more then one way of doing that) and that format and re-install the OS and put the data back on it.

the problem you have was resolved at this site...it's the only place I have ever seen the fix posted.
