Can you load your mpeg file in Windows Movie Maker or you just cannot modify the file with the program? What kind off error does the program give you or what is different from before? Please give a more detailed description of the problem.

My suggestion is the MPEG file is embedded with a codec your computer does not have. I check my AVI files with GSpot to see what codecs they are using. Not sure it works for MPEG's but I think that could be the source of the problem.

My suggestions are:

1. Remove Windows Movie Player and re-install.
2. If (2) does not work then install Windows Media Player 10 i found this option also sorts out a few old dll's which I had on my version of XP - and touch wood I don't at present have an media issues.
