Windows XP Installation Freezes On New System

I seem to be having some problems installing Windows XP Professional on my new system that I just built. The system recognizes all the hardware without a problem, and boots the the Windows Install CD and proceeds to load the Setup files, however I have been unable to get much farther than that.

What usually happens during the loading of the setup files is that it will either freeze, or once it completes loading the setup files Windows Install reports that a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

I've ruled out a heat issue, as the BIOS reports that the system temperature is a healthy 23C, and the CPU temperature is floating around 32C. I've tried to lower the FSB speed to see if that would help things out but it hasn't. Maybe someone else has some insight?

System Specs:
- AMD Athlon XP 3200+
- MSI K7N2 Delta II Platinum
- 1 GB PC3200 RAM
- ATI Radeon 9600 All In Wonder
- Western Digital 160GB HD @ 7200RPM
- Sony CD-RW 52x

I have the HD on IDE Channel 0 set as master, and the Sony CD Drive set to IDE Channel 1 as master. Whenever the Windows Install utility reads from the CD, it seems to be bursting. I haven't seen read activity on the CD Drive for more than half a second, and the copying of install files seems to be proceeding very slowly... takes about 10 minutes or so.

I'll keep trying, and hopefully I will get this taken care of, if not, hopefully someone here has an idea as to whats going on.

[Edit]Just a quick update... the error also states that I should check for viruses, disconnect any newly attatched harware, and run check disk. I only have the one hard drive, so disconnecting that is not an option. I did however notice that I had the incorrect jumper settings on the hard drive. It was set to cable select, so as we speek I am attempting this again with the master jumper setting. I will update with the restults.[/Edit]

Well... things seem to be working. Windows XP is halfway through the installation procedure. I'm assuming that the errors were caused by bad memory DIMMS... so I'm going to run a utility to test them once Windows is installed.
