Angry Missing Shell Hardware Detection Service

Hello All, I need some help figuring this one out. I attempted to connect my camera to my computer but Windows XP Pro did not recognize the device as a camera. I beleive the problem is that the Shell Hardware Detection Service is not a available service on my PC. This service is a default Windows XP service. Can anyone help get this service back???? Pre Thanks for help.

have you checked your list of services (run SERVICES.MSC).
Shell Hardware Detection should be set to 'automatic'. Change it to automatic if necessary, then restart your system.
