Unhappy Illogical Network Issue

As a certain vulcan once said, "This is highly illogical Jim". Thats what i'm thinking right now about this Network i'm dealing with.

Here's the lowdown:

Microsoft Windows Network consisting of 6 Win98 machines.
2 Windows ME machines, 2 Windows XP machines and one NT server.

Windows 98 machines can see everything. As can windows Me machines. Server can see everybody also.

Windows XP machines can only see other WinXP machine and NT server. they cannot see the win98 or ME machines.

The setup is as follows in all machines identically:
ip addresses in the form of 90.0.0.x
subnet masks: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 90.0.0.1(NT server)
All connected via a 3Com 12 port hub.

Protocols installed: TCP/IP, Netbios over IPX, Netbeui.
(there's a couple of apps running that require IPX and netbeui)

Everything looks exactly the same on all mchines. All machines can ping everybody else. All machines can browse the web through the NT server.

What on earth am I missing to get WinXP to see Win98.

I restate my original afirmation: "This is highly illogical".

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and i apologize for the rambling.

Did you make a "network setup disk" in xp and install it to the other machines?

Sorry, I forgot to mention:
The Windows XP machines, were just added to the exisitng network of 98's and ME's. copying all network settings from one of the 98's. I would have to believe that they would see each other. Besides I dont want to alter the Win98, and Me machines , beacuse they are running sensitive apps that cannot go down. I can fiddle with the XP's all i want.

Thanx again for any input.

Have you tried opening "Network places" and typing in the network name of the machine you wish to connect with (search) ?
