Talking a big problem

hy and sorry to bother you again.

recently ive installed service pack 2 on my windows xp professional.

after three days from that ive decideed to change my internet browser and ive changed mozilla for netscape. iwasnt very satisfied so i turned back to mozilla.

from then i have a big problem!!!!!!

once in a while, in arbitrary moments my computer restarts without any previous warning. that one of my problem. the second one is that even im virus ,adware and spyware free and ive fixed registry problems my computer becomes very slow (like a 486).
i dont know whats causing this kind of problems.
another change i made was with my bandwidth limit from gpedit.msc.

is that a problem ?

please help me!

i shall give a beer to anyone who helps me to get rid of this problem!

after sp2 is installed I notice my system and all the others i have seen with sp2 uses alot more ram. so you may be loading up your ram which is making you slow...need to know your specs to say. as for using third party browsers, i have had serious issues with netscape since aol bought them out a while back, it does slow a system down. mozilla does not, just one trick even though you can set different browsers as default...dont IE does not take this well...use the other browser just dont make it default.
did you remove netscape? if so did you use add remove programs?
have you done a disk cleanup lately and run a defrag. doing a check disk is a good idea too.
you say you know you dont have a virus, did you run a online scan...humor me. if you have not please do and make sure you dont.

Unhappy

thank you all for your answers.
now let my tell you the chronological order of my action:

1) i instaled service pack 2.
3) after a week or two of errors from IE(something about runtime memory) ive read an article about mozilla and decided to install it.aslo ive made it my default browser.
4)then i had no problem for couple of weeks.my problem started when i downloaded and instaled netscape 7.2(im blessing that damn day).after i instaled netscape i encountered problems such as restarting, very slow computer and a beat in my speakers that forced my to reboot.
5) i uninstaled netscape (from add/remopve programs) and reinstaled mozilla.
6)also i changed my antivirus from E Trust Ez Armor to the latest bit defender and ive updated it.
7) ive changed my bandwidth limit.

8) this morning ive scaned with bit and last night i defragment it. after i read your posts i ve checked online with that two programs. also im using a registry cleaner a spyware/adware remover and a firewall(two im im counting the firewall from service pack 2)

in this moment i have no errror or virus or trojan or any other things like this(except the error with runtime memory encountered when im closing IE)

in this moment when im writing this , my speakers gone mad and i have to reboot.
H E L P ! ! ! !

P.S.
im sorry for my bad english!

ok, sp2 causes alot of problems with drivers, chances are you may just need updated versions, if you have a proprietary(brand name pc) you may need patches for the software bundled with it as well. if you list the name and model number of the pc, the link can be found for your support...if it is a custom pc you will need to list as much info as you can.

nice system specs, but all they tell me is you have a K7 athlon motherboard with a nvidia chipset...if you have a custom pc the motherboard maker and numbers should be on the board it's self...you may have a manual that shows the make and model #s. if you have a brand name and model number on the pc case, it would do just as well. nvidia to my knowledge has 3 versions of it's chipset and different motherboard vendors sometimes add different options or features that make the drivers unique to one specific model. luck maybe with you and might be able to go to windows updates, do a cutom install and see if they have updated drivers for some of your hardware that will solve some of your troubles...thier driver versiond dont always work as expected....but you can get lucky.
video drivers, sound drivers, and chipset drivers are one of the biggest issues with sp2 right now, people assume xp will update them automatically...it does not.

you know you maybe right. after i read your post ive remembered a thing.
ive instaled SP2 after a system crashdown. ive formated my partition and reinstaled windows. and after that SP2. then the drivers; and when i was instaled my sound drivers, some kind of error apeared to me. i dont now if it is an error but it said to me that my drivers had not passed the windows compatibilty test and i sould contact my vendor. and it had to ways:
1) continue anyway and 2) abort .

ive continued anyway and i havent had any problems until now.

anyway on my motherboard it says:8RDAE-031126A01534 and under this
EP-8RDAE.

ok, found your board, it is unique to some regions and not on the US site.
http://www.epox.com.tw/eng/support.php?ps=240&type=2
the drivers are on that link...bios updates look strange for your board...do not use them... i am seeing odd things from the links i have found...here is one...remember do not use the bios updates.
http://www.anandtech.com/news/shownews.aspx?i=20200
the updated drivers on the first link may go a long way to fixing your issues...try them, post back if you need anything else.

Which RAM tester? If it was memtest86, then the errors point to problems with your memory (which means you've gotta buy new memory). If it wasn't, I'd suggest running memtest86 (available for free here: http://www.memtest86.com/ ) and seeing what it has to say. I've heard (on other forums) that some of the other memory testers (to include Microsoft's) are somewhat less than reliable.
