Help

I have no sound on my computer...when I go to a site with sound no sound comes out, my speakers are lit up green and are connected right. When I try to go to play a song on Windows Media it says Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly. It gives me an error message for voice in chat rooms too. In Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices, it says No Audio Device and the area below for Device Volume and Speaker Settins is grayed out and cannot be clicked. Someone please help. This just happened today, I asked my wife if she did anything and she said she was playing a game that crashed and I wonder if that has done something...

This driver will only work if you use the audio plugs on the I/O plate, if you have audio plugs in an expansion slot it will not work

first try a System Restore to before sound disappeared
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select restore my computer to an earlier time - look at calender, dark blue has restore points

if no restore points, make and model please or Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

That didn't work either. I downloaded it and it restarted and I still have no sound icon on my taskbar and no sound anywhere. I think I had tried this before.

Check this out
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot.

if that does not work check the BIOS look at this Step 7
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...cname=bph07154

then install audio again but get it ftom realtek - Accept - click Next
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...tDown=false#AC

Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install

The site is slow
