Hey all, my new tower doesn't have sound after I bought a new hard disk and installed windows xp on it. It's odd since the old hd running vista had no sound problems. No yellow flags in the audio section either, just three odd ones in the "other devices." Please help.

I have the same problem. I updated to XSitePro Version 2 and needed to download Netframework 2.0 and since, I have absolutely no sound. I've tried everything I could find on the internet except installing a new codec. The last thing was downloading Belarc. Could I send the report for someone to analyse?

Just copy and paste into thread, omit the Software License and win update section.

check Device Manager, anything yellow flagged

Go to My Computer / right click / Properties / Hardware Tab / Device Manager

I'm having the problem as well.

I had a problem while playing a game that it would crash, and end up restarting my computer. Then, while my computer was starting up from a the restart, it would just restart again. So I did a system restore so I could perhaps get rid of the problem since the problem escalated to the point that I couldn't start windows.

And now, my sound won't work. I'm getting the same error messages as the other people. Under Computer Management, there are 4 flagged devices. Before they were all titled "Media" and now they are all "Unknown Device". Under properties they are all labeled "Sound, video, and game controllers." Here's the spec for my computer:

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

1.80 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
8 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache

And now, my sound won't work. I'm getting the same error messages as the other people. Under Computer Management, there are 4 flagged devices. Before they were all titled "Media" and now they are all "Unknown Device". Under properties they are all labeled "Sound, video, and game controllers." Here's the spec for my computer:

Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section

Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right click mouse - select Copy
Then open post – right click mouse – select Paste and the report will insert.
