Hi!
I need some help. After replacing a new hardisk, there's totally no sound coming out from my computer. When I go to the sound and audio devices in the control panel, most of them are greyed out. There's also a yellow exclamation mark next to C-Media AC97 audio device in the device manager. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
BTW here's the Belarc Advisor results from my computer.

check this first to see if Realtek is default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

if not go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

Click I Accept – wait for site to reload – click Next

Download the (Executable) file – save to desktop – double click downloaded file and follow installation instructions.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

Hi Bookworn, thanks for coming back. Realtek ac97 is my default audio, i checked as per your instructions. I also uninstalled Realtek AC97 and reinstalled it from your url link just in case, but my desktop started rebooting itself automatically so went back to the restore point. Good idea of yours.

Any other suggestions as i still have no sound. Device Manager shows all is Ok. No yellow question marks
