these are the drivers for the board, Belarc does not list a device if the driver is not installed
http://asia.msi.com.tw/index.php?fun...=1&prod_no=228

these drivers only work if your audio sockets are on the I/O plate
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

if in an expansion slot then need to know which sound card you have installed

I would install the ATI system drivers ( chipset) first - then RESTART your comp then install audio driver Realtek High Definition

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

No Sound...Please help

I have an XP home machine which I built myself. Was working perfectly until moved and reinstall of XP for another user. It has an ABIT SG80DC, I have the driver and chipset disk, I have installed and rebooted, the chipset disk also had the install files for AC97 drivers. Sound seems to be playing, but no sound from speakers. I have switched speakers, no sound. Help...what am I overlooking?

check these out

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot

Abit have ceased trading 31st December 2008, so can't get the site, but from what I have found out it's Realtek AC97 audio check this to see if realtek is default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

if not go here to Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...tDown=false#AC

Click I Accept – wait for site to reload – click Next

Download the (Executable) file – save to desktop – double click downloaded file and follow installation instructions.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
