And yes, there is a yellow "!" mark next to the ES1888 Plug and Play Audiodrive (WDM) when I troubleshoot it tells me that

This is an explanation of code 12

as you can see, both audio are trying to use the same resources, now one has to be Disabled and this could mean going into the BIOS, I'm not up on this procedure the only way I know is through Device manager, I'll check with some of the techie guys on the site, someone should be able to help.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

2 audio drivers offered, if you chose the first in the list, which was SoundMax Intergrated Digital audio, then the other is Realtek High definition. Go here to Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...Audio%20CODECs

download the (Excution file) save to desktop, double click to install

The site can be slow

Hope this helps

I tried updating the drivers. It seemed to fix itself after this even though it said that there was no better ones to update to!!! Oh well

Guess i'l be "updating" my drivers when this happens in the future!

An older PC, I recently reformatted and it booted up with no sound drivers. I found the Motherboard make was Shuttle so i've finally managed to download the "Audio.zip" driver for my model but the setup.exe won't run after I unzipped it.

Following a good 12 hours looking into this on the net somebody posted to go into BIOS and check the driver needed in intergrated prephials (sp?). So I found out that mine is SIS - 7012.

I downloaded a driver for that and got a 536870397 error msg. I found the fix for that but it appears very long winded (removing all trace of the driver, burning a CD, etc, etc) and is way out of my technical range. Most computer things are.

I don't have the driver CD anymore. Strangely during my tinkering it installed some Bluetooth device as a driver (the GF's) played but had no sound in WMP. I have removed the bluetooth driver.

I downloaded that AC97 gizmo and got a yellow exclamation mark and a code 10.

I'd be grateful for any advice provided.

Thanks,

AMP

On the back of the tower, do you have radio jacks near to your mouse and keyboard sockets, and also lower down on the tower, let me know

Cheers

My latest problem (still no sound) is that I downloaded Realtek HD from my Motherboards site but when it goes to install it it say "No MS BUS driver installed". This is driving me mad.

Could Audio problems be DRM ?

I think all the audio problems with XP and media center are related to Service Pack 2 Digital Rights Management
that's possible built in. I just tried 2 new computers
and they both had the same problem. An older one I had
started having audio problems when updating to service pack 2. It seems to cut the line in audio path off. Only solution I think is going to a separate PCI audio card, I use adobe audition to record off cassette (converting a vinyl collection) and with the media center I'm using now I don't have line in functions. It's kinda CS that Microsoft is not telling people about this.

After reformatting with an old version of XP Pro (pre Sp1) this problem occurred so in my case it's not just SP2. Thanks anyway for posting.

Your board Shuttle MS52 appears to have C-Media audio, 3 versions of the board, but basically the same comfiguration

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Then go here to Shuttle http://global.shuttle.com/Download/D...sp?Item=MS52/N

use the "us http" to download
