Hi
Like many other I have been having problems with sound on XP. The motherboard is an AOpen AX6BC PRO. In Device Manager the Multimedia Audio Controller has a yellow exclamation mark next to it. I have tried to uninstall then reinstall and tried to update but I get 'wizard cannot find necessary software.' I think there is a built in sound card but I'm not to sure.

If anyone could help, it would be much apreciated as this is driving me crazy!

According to AOpen that board does not have onboard sound, get Belarc and post the report, it may show the make and model of your system and what sound card installed http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Hope this helps

Set a System restore Point before installing driver just in case

The board still not showing up, and this is a shot in the dark, they only show one board and that driver is ALC3.30 leads me to believe it's Realtek AC'97. Go here to Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/index.aspx

download the (Excution file) save to desktop, double click to install

The site can be slow

Hope this helps

My previous post #223. I resolved my no sound problem but it's back again and I can't fix it. Motherboard ECS-K7SOM+ 1.0 with built in sound card. Any suggestions?

"FIXED IT MYSELF AFTER READING AND TRIAL AND ERROR. IN DEVICE MANAGER I FOUND THAT C-MEDIA AC97 AUDIO DEVICE HAD YELLOW QUESTION MARK. REINSTALLED DRIVER AND ALL IS WELL."

Hunt over your tower, a label, may give clues to the make and model

Cheers

Ok...ummm my sound went out the other day when I was deleteing stuff off my pc to make some room. When I try to play a video or listen to music a window pops up and says "soundcard error".I tried following the troubleshooting information and right when I thought I was getting somewhere it said that they didn't have information on what was wrong. So after 30 minutes I'm back to where I was.To be honest I know nothing about computers, and nothing about my computer so I can't list any of that stuff everyone else did.All I know is that my soundcard couldn't have gone out because it happened at the same time I was deleteing a LOT of stuff. If anyone could please help it would mean a lot.Thanx

Oh and it would really really help to get it fixed as fast as possible so if anyone has yahoo my sn is Zug_Izland101, thanx again

Ok, on the outside where the radio jacks are, when you open the tower are the jacks attatched to a card inserted into one of the slots, if it is try to see what's on the card.

Hope this helps
