If Device Manager lists nothing but Codecs under Sound. Video, Game Controllers, we will have to identify your Sound Card ourselves. Your computer doesn't know it's there.

Switch off, open your computer and look where you plug your speaker cable in. There should also be a small cable from the back of your CDrom to this card.

Remove it if you can and replace it in another slot. This will tell us if it's not inserted correctly, which seems distinctly possible.

Is there any writing or are there any numbers on it too?

I don't know what happend. When I go into control panel and click sounds and audio devices I can not change any of the settings because the colors are like, dulled so when I try and click on anything nothing happens. It also says no audio device under the volume panel. I don't see what's wrong because I had sound before so I don't know what could have happend. I'm only 15 and I'm not really good with this system talk. Please help, thanks in advanced.

Create a System Restore Point just in case

Your driver is a Realtek ALC650
Go here to download http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

download the one for XP, it is an exe. it will install itself automatically, if you save it, you double click yht file to install.

Hope this helps

the site can be slow to download, if one is very slow just cancell and try another.
