had a look at this at gateway, it appears to be linked with your Modem, go back to gateway and update the Modem driver, then the Audio driver http://support.gateway.com/support/d...&param=1009110

Set a System restore Point before installing just in case

If this does not worl get Belarc and it may give the motherboard http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Not to sure on this one, is it only wave files or will it playback nothing, one sugeggestion is to update the chipset driver, this you can get from Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

it's NO:4 in the list,

Did you get the audio from Realtek or HP

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

I went to Belarc Advisor seeing as many of the forums were recommending this however I can't what kind of sound card I have. I know that I have a Intel Corporation d845gvsr aac44953-301 motherboard. I hope someone can help me with my predicament.

Thanks in advance.

This is for onboard sound for the Intel D845GVSR, it's Realtek AC'97

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Then go here to Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

download the (Excution file) save to desktop, double click to install

The site is slow

Hope this helps

Gateway MX6445 again

Problem seems the same as already several times mentioned.
I formatted drive, installed Win XP and no sound. I did everything what was already told in this topic so:
1. Installed modem and sound driver form Gateway site - no results. Every time installation of sound driver fails.
2. After installation of the system (no drivers installed) checked system with Belarc and no multimedia was detected.
3. Installed Realtec drivers and Belarc says that Realtec'97 was detected. And, in my opinion this is the way I should go: After installation of Realtec drivers, system sees sound card but can not run it (System Manager says: code 10). Looks like a conflict with other system device but no idea which one? How can I find it?
Thx
