Just so I don't have to keep checking back, is there any way that someone can e-mail me if they have posted a reply in order to alert me? My e-mail address is teamconstantine@yahoo.com.

Thanks a lot, guys.

Check Device manager to see if you have a problem with the sound device, go to My Computer > right click > select Properties > in System Properties box select Hardware Tab > expand Sound, video and game controllers > are any Yellow ? or ! marks shown.

if you know the make and model of your computer post back with details, if not download Belarc Advisor ( free programe ) http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
and post back the specs on your computer.

Hope this helps

As you can see, I have Limewire, a Peer2Peer file sharing software, so I think I must've downloaded some corrupt file. I deleted all recently download files in an attempt to rectify the problem but still nothing. This is NOT the first time I've had this problem. The other times I had to have my father-in-law come and delete the whole computer (can't remember what this whole process is called) - you would think I have learned my lesson. I'm hoping that it doesn't come down to this because it's a pain in the neck... for him.

Also, is there any way I can identify exactly what the culprit for this problem is and where it exists so that I can deal with it if it happens again?

Before installing Create a System Restore Point just in case

Your sound driver is a Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM) get it here http://drivers.soft32.com/driver/dow..._HD-22639.html

If you need to go to Dell for support, have sent a PM with the details to access your drivers.

May I also suggest a little more security, I don't see an antivirus among your specs, if so get AVD7 ( free ) http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

SpyBot Search&Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Spyware Blaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

http://www.simtel.net/product.downlo...s.php?id=53687 Firewall

Hope this helps

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately, the driver download link is not working. I did, however, download the AVG virus scanner. I already have Spybot. Thanks. I don't know what else to do.

If you alrady know parts of what I say, sorry just want to be clear

CREATE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE YOU INSTALL EACH OF THESE DRIVERS JUST IN CASE

Then create a folder in My Documents and name it Downloads, so you know where your drivers are.

Go here http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

Download No: 3 INFINST_AUTOL>EXE and save to disc, Browse to your Download folder and save it there. Make a note of the file, go to Download folder and double click the file, it will install itself, Then RESTART the computer. This file needs to be installed before any other drivers.

Next go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

your Audio driver is a Realtek ALC650,choose your OS it is second on list and then choose from one of the 3 mirror sites, download and again save to your download folder, the file is VXD_A378.EXE double click to install, it will install itself, then RESTART your computer.

Hope this helps

I'm completely new here, and I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'd be really, really grateful if anyone could help me out.

Go here http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppor...UID=501&kind=1
scroll down to the Realtek ALC Series AC'97 Audio Driver and download the Win9x/ME/2000/XP version. Save it to disc, somewhere you can find easily, and make a note of it's name, then go to the file and double click to install.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for replying so quickly!! But, um, I've still got problems...
I downloaded the file, but when I try to double click it or extract files, it says "The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted." Did I do something wrong? x.x
