NO Sound problem

ok everything seems to be fine except I haven't dowloaded a C-media driver. Problem now is that I don't know which one to download

Any advice on how to tell which driver to download would be greatly appreciated

Just did a check with dxdiag and it tells me I have a DirectSound error. Whenever I try to check my speakers I get an error message saying DirectSound settings unavailable. Would this have anything to do with C-Media?

Thanks in advance.

If you have Sound back on your comp, then there is no need to get this audio driver.

This is the link, there is only one C-Media driver for Win XP http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...pire_t300.html

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

the report is showing C-Media as your audio, but the audio offered by Gigabyte is Realtek AC'97, this is onboard audio, and if you have a sound card installed it will not work

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Please help

I have no sound, I've tried everything... When I treid to install a new driver it told me ac'97 was disabled in BIOS ... I went to BIOS and it said it was enabled I tried this again and again I even disabled it and the enabled it to see if that would at all help.... My BelARC goes a little something like this.....

there's a fat yellow question mark in device manager -> other devices -> multimedia audio controller

if audio is onboard, you will have only one set of radio jacks at the back of the comp, on the I/O plate near keyboard and mouse sockets.

check this out
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic.

The via 4 in 1 driver is the chipset, install then Restart the comp

then install the Via audio driver

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
