no sound
my mom had to redo the software for our computer but she accidently deleted the sound settings so all i hear is a beep i am only 14 and i have tried so many things and nothing works when i go to try and reinstall the multimedia audio controller it says it couldnt find the software for it and it has a big yellow question mark infront of it ughhh if u could help me out i would be soooo happy!! thanks in advanced  |

copy and paste the report ( not the Software Licence section, it shows Product keys) once we know what OS you have we can look for driver

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic.
i followed these instructions as was previously suggested to another member and the findings of the first set of instructions say i have no playback devices i cannot click anywhere in this area as it appears my comp doesn'teven recognise a means of playing sond back........i really dont know what to try and would truly appreciate any help available from anyone on the board thanks in advance DG34

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
HP and MSI offer no audio driver at all, but from what I have found out they are in the nVidia chipset, go here to nVidia to get the audio driver

The via 4 in 1 driver is the chipset, install then Restart the comp
then install the Via audio driver
Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Ok, in Sound and Audio devices it's all grayed out. I can't get a drop down menu because it's not finding it .....
In component services, at services(local) there was a plus sign so it would appear you could expand that but when you click on that nothing shows up so, I don't have windows audio service???? is that even possible?
I'm going to try the driver again... let me know if you can think of anything else ... Thank you so much.

This is a new one on me, it's not giveing anything away, the make is Viglen and they have a site, but no model, hunt over the machine and post any info you find serial number or model, also get Everest http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml
copy and paste the My Computer/Summary and Motherboard section, may give more clues.
