I found out the company that makes my sound card but when I went to the site they didn't have my specific model. My computer is kind of oldish so maybe that has something to do with it. It's a C-Media AC97 PCI8086.

Any help as to where maybe I can find updated drivers or any other information that can possibly help me would be appreciated.

I replaced my windows 2000 pro. with a windows xp home edition, but for some reason when I try to play any type of sound it tells me that the multimedia driver is not installed, and I no longer have the CD to install the driver again. If there is any one out there who can help me I thank you in advance. My computer was made by Acma, and I don't have the faintest idea who they are.

I have the same problam ever since i re-installed a year ago. My dad gave me one of this old pc's and i toke the soundcard out of that and put it into this pc (the one with no sound). I had some problems at first but i seemed to have worked them out. The drivers installed and i had the little speaker back in my taskbar. I could change the volume and everything. BUT no sound comes out of the speakers. i have tried to sets of speakers and my hi-fi but it doesn't seem to work. i have had one of my friends look at it and he hasnt got a clue too.

Anyhelp would be great.

Thank you.

Get Belarc http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

copy and paste the report, but only the section on the computer hardware, not the OS or Win Updates

Hope this helps

Can you check this, it appears you have Vinyl AC'97 audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

That info does not give the make or model or the motherboard, just the Chipset, get Everest http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

copy and paste the My Computer/Summary section

Hope this helps
