Thanks!

Barbara, thanks *so* much for your help, worked perfectly. I'd tried looking through threads to find the right driver and thought I had, but turns out it wasn't so probably would have made things worse, so I really appreciate your help

Hello,
I have had problems with my sound and I even took it back to the place I bought it and paid them to fix it, but it seems like only part of the problem was fixed.
I can play music with windows media player but I can't play system sounds, messenger sounds, or music that is playing on the internet.
Under the control panel sound and audio devices it says there is no audio device installed, and many things are greyed out so I can't select audio playback device etc.
here is the info from Belarc....I really hope someone can help solve this problem soon.
P.S. I don't know that much about computers, so hopefully its not too complicated.
Thanks in advance.

Thumbs up It Worked! Yeah for sound.

Never thought I would be so happy to hear those annoying error sounds, but I'm ecstatic. I didn't download anything I just followed the other thing you mentioned and I had sound.
Thank you so much for your time, and you are obviously saving people from losing their minds.
All the best, and Thanks again.
