Please help, it doesn't list anything under Multimedia, and I can't figure out why my sound isn't working after the reinstallation.

Check this
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

This is the link to your Dell drivers http://support.euro.dell.com/support...os=WW1&osl=EN#

first install the Chipset drivers - then RESTART your comp

There are 3 audio options, all on-board, after Chipset installation check Device Manager and see if it lists one of the audio options. If not it will ba a case of trying each one in turn

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps

Unhappy No Sound

I'm having trouble getting a sound from my computer! It just started today. When I pull up wmp, it states ...Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?

I have a laptop, recently lost sound, have reviewed all messages and tried everything including re-installing drivers-no luck. I can hear sound from headphones but none from speakers. Goodness, this is driving me crazy because it doesn't make sense why my sound would go out! Thanks much in advance!
