Check this out first
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

2 audios showing, creative Soundblaster and realtek AC'97 do you have 2 set of audio jacks, 1 set near USB sockets and 1 lower down in an exspansion slot.

Cheers

Check this first
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device. it should be Realtek HD ( High Definition)

Installing drivers for Sony you need to install these drivers first

Intel Chipset > install then RESTART comp
Sony Shared Library Utility
these 2 have the INF files

Then Realtek High definition audio driver

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem. I have a Sound Blaster X-fi platnum. When I try to play music from Windows Media Player 11, I am getting the message, "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program or it might not be functioning properly." It is only saying that when i try to play through Windows Media Player.

I can play everything fine on another media player like Nero, but it is only saying that through Media Player.

When I disconect my front bay sound console from my power supply I can get it working in Windows Media Player. But I would realy like to use Windows media Player AND use my front bay sound consoul to plug in my microphone and Hedphones.

Does anyone have any ideas on whats going on??

Please help......

2 audios showing, creative Soundblaster and realtek AC'97 do you have 2 set of audio jacks, 1 set near USB sockets and 1 lower down in an exspansion slot.

Thanks for the reply. I did a clean reinstall of XP and the sound worked, but I installed the wrong graphics driver and it did not let me change it. SO I did another clean install of XP, the graphics working, but the sound at the same place. This time I did not install the Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS gamer edition sound card because I am not using my 7.1 system on this computer anymore. Any suggestions now. I still do not have sound coming from the onboard sound. I did after the first clean install of XP though????

I still do not have sound coming from the onboard sound. I did after the first clean install of XP though????

check this out first
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.Should be Realtek AC'97

the driver is here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click to install

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

Hope this helps
